The Face of Family Healthcare
Rebecca Bender, Family Nurse Practitioner, Freeman Clinic of Anderson
As the family nurse practitioner at Freeman Clinic of Anderson, Rebecca Bender works with the entire family.
“I get to see patients across the lifespan – from newborns to seniors,” she said. “Every day is different!”
Bender’s job is to provide a wide range of primary healthcare services. She helps patients make healthy lifestyle choices to prevent issues from arising in addition to testing and treatment for a variety of medical conditions.
“Sometimes the type of care I’m providing a patient requires me to see them over a long period of time,” she said. “It’s very rewarding to get to see effective treatment over time and really get to know my patient. And I love when I get to give good news!”
Bender began her career 20 years ago as a registered nurse at Freeman Hospital West. Over the years, she has worked in the emergency room and the intensive care unit within Freeman Health System. In 2013, she graduated with her master’s degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and shortly thereafter became the family nurse practitioner at the Freeman Clinic of Anderson.
“I grew up in Anderson, so being a nurse practitioner in my hometown is really special to me,” she said. “It’s my way of giving back to the community.”
In her free time, Rebecca loves being in the great outdoors with her three children, singing in her church choir and traveling whenever she gets the chance.
