Charles and Lacy James, Owners, Cap’s Cabin
Who knew you could find a traditional British Chippy in the heart of Lamar, Missouri?
Inspired by owner Charles James’ travels in England and Wales paired with an old family recipe from Scotland, Charles and his wife, Lacy, opened Cap’s Cabin in April 2016, fulfilling their dream of bringing traditional fish and chips (or fries, as we ‘Mericans call them) recipes to Lamar.
The made-to-order, mouthwatering delights from Cap’s Cabin don’t stop at fish and chips. They specialize in comfort food, namely gourmet burgers, and they aren’t afraid to take a walk on the wild side. Their burgers include the Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger and the BBQ & Ranch Burger.
In less than three years, Cap’s Cabin has become one of Lamar’s most beloved restaurants. Their secret to success? Charles and Lacy say it comes down to the basics: hard work, good food and great service.
