Dr. Leslie Hamlett has dedicated her life to providing compassionate care and comfort to those suffering complications of the kidneys.
“There are so many reasons why I do what I do,” she said. “The most rewarding aspect of my job is the ability to save someone’s life when they are dying from complications of kidney failure with dialysis. I also enjoy the process of helping patients obtain a kidney transplant.”
She said she’s proud to be part of the Freeman team, which enables her to provide the best care possible to her patients.
“Freeman provides amazing support to their dialysis community. The administration goes above and beyond to provide a safe and comfortable environment for their dialysis patients,” she said. “Patients comment that they realize ‘they are a little spoiled’ at Freeman after traveling out of town and having to dialyze at other units. We provide heated seats, warm blankets and snacks during treatment. There is cable television at every station and Wi-Fi availability. Freeman has flexible chair times and excellent nurses who provide the best care possible in state-of-the-art facilities.”
Dr. Hamlett sees patients at Freeman Hospital in Joplin and Webb City, at dialysis units and in the office for follow-up care. She is the director of the dialysis unit at the Webb City Neighborhood Care location. She is also adjunct faculty at three medical schools, serves as the medical staff president of Freeman Health System, sits on multiple Freeman committees and is involved in care for dialysis patients in the surrounding area including Nevada, Carthage and Neosho, Missouri, and Miami, Oklahoma.
In her free time, Dr. Hamlett enjoys spending time with her husband, Sean; two children, Skylar and Noah; and their English bulldog, Max.
