Using the Pantone Color for 2019 – Living Coral – in Your Home
Spring is upon us, and with that will come all the fresh and fun spring colors the fashion industry thinks we need to see. What is this year’s hot new color? This year’s Pantone color of the year is Living Coral. The Pantone website describes Living Coral in these terms, “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” The color coral is usually associated as more orange than pink, but this year’s living coral definitely lends itself toward the pink side.
The word coral immediately brings to mind the living coral reefs off the coasts of exotic islands with sand-swept beaches. The colors of the islands complement the color Living Coral perfectly. Use it with neutral colors such as gray, white and tan. However, it mixes perfectly with its complementary color, teal. The blending of coral and teal make for a beautiful color palette. Make sure to use the same hue of teal as coral. If you are using Living Coral in your home design, make sure to use a softer shade of teal to create the look you are going for. The two colors together can create a sense of calm and warmth in any room.
The use of the color coral on this headboard functions as a much-needed feature wall and works well with the other neutral colors, such as gray and white. It doesn’t take over the room but definitely spices it up! This room could use a little more coral color. Adding a floral pattern, with a hint of coral, in some comfy throw pillows and a striped area rug will add to the cohesiveness and the design of the room.
As always, you will see the Pantone color in home design as well as fashion. Check out this baby rocking a coral and teal color palette. The neutral tans add to the beauty of the color palette.
