Toes in the Grand, Thunder on Wolf Creek & Bass Pro Tour
Bring Fun to Grand Lake
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Grove, Oklahoma, Wolf Creek Park will have plenty of attractions local residents and visitors will find enjoyable between May 31 and June 5.
According to Donnie Crain, president of Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, over a six-day stretch, there are three events on tap that include Toes in the Grand Summer Kick Off Festival, David Kane’s Thunder on Wolf Creek Hydroplane Races and the Major League Fishing (MLF) Bass Pro Tour.
“All of these events will be taking place beginning the weekend after Memorial Day, and better yet, all are free to attend.”
As for the Toes in the Grand, Crain described it as “Mid-America’s largest free ‘Trop Rock’ music festival. Friday evening, Greg Dragoo kicks things off with music at 6:30 pm on the Cherokee Casino Grove Entertainment Stage, followed by that night’s headliner, The Blonde Stranger Band at 8 pm.
“Saturday’s music kicks off at 6:30 pm with the COPA Reefer Band, followed by Parrotville – a live Jimmy Buffet Music Tribute at 8 pm, straight from Branson’s Jim Stafford Theater.”
Crain said, “Following Parrotville, festival-goers will enjoy fireworks over Wolf Creek Bay, sponsored by Plum Farmaceutical.”
Along with the music, there’s lots more ‘Toes in the Grand’ entertainment.
Crain said, “There will be approximately 10 food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, pony and camel rides, and a kid’s zone.
“There will be a Tiki Man 5K Fun Run on Saturday morning at 8 am and a car show with awards presented at 3 pm.”
That’s still not all, and Crain said, “Island Fun and Games, sponsored by Patricia Island Country Club and Mulligans, will have events both days, including Oklahoma’s longest conga line and a limbo contest.”
The seventh annual Thunder on Wolf Creek is described at https://thunderonwolfcreek.com as being the “greatest show on the water,” with three days of racing excitement.
Crain noted participants in these races will have “testing on Friday, May 31, with races on both Saturday and Sunday.”
Also making a big splash is Major League Fishing (MLF), which will make its seventh stop of the 2019 Bass Pro Tour at Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees for six days of competition.
Crain said this tour is “comprised of the best anglers in professional bass fishing.”
Along with the fishing, Crain revealed there will be “a full television production,” and those who want to do so will have an opportunity to “enjoy the post-game show live at Grove’s Wolf Creek Park each evening, beginning at 5 pm.”
Crain also said fans will get to “see and meet the top 80 anglers in professional bass fishing.”
What a week full of virtually non-stop action for all those who converge on Grove hoping for a grand start to their summer.
