When you find yourself in Lamar, Missouri, you are bound to notice several changes and new businesses just south of town. Near the golf course, one new restaurant you want to be sure to try is Mother Tucker’s Pizza. The restaurant is located in what was formerly the course club house and pro shop near the golf course.
Completely gutted and remodeled into a contemporary dining space, the former club house is the new home to Mother Tucker’s Pizza, a home-style pizzeria and sandwich shop owned by Jeff and Jenny Tucker.
“We make our pizza fresh daily with made-from-scratch dough and fresh, high-quality ingredients,” said Jenny. “We also feature a salad bar and pizza buffet.”
Mother Tucker’s, Lamar’s only locally owned pizzeria, also offers a variety of appetizers, fresh sandwiches and gluten-free pizza, along with their signature pizzas.
“Lamar was known for its locally owned pizzeria 20 years ago,” said Jenny, “and we hope to bring back some familiar favorites along with a new Mother Tucker’s twist. Customers can enjoy great pizza in a family-friendly atmosphere with large screen TVs and the opportunity to play cornhole. They also have a beautiful view of Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course while dining outside on the wraparound, covered patio.”
Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course was formerly the Lamar Country Club. Once a private golf course, Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course is now a public course recently acquired by Jeremy “J-Dawg” Marti, and two other Lamar businessmen. It is not a course with food service, but it is located next to Mother Tucker’s Pizza and Clear Creek Golf Car and Utility Vehicles on the east outer road of Interstate 49 between exits 74 and 77.
Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course continues to improve significantly over the last few months since the change of ownership. No longer a private club, Jeremy’s Creek is a 9-hole golf course open to the public. All-day green fees are only $20. Club Car golf carts are available for rent from a fleet provided by Clear Creek Golf Car and Utility Vehicles. The rentals are later model and high quality. For those who enjoy the beauty of being on a golf course but would rather be kicking a soccer ball, Jeremy’s Creek also offers FootGolf.
FootGolf can be played simultaneously with traditional golf, so Mom and Dad can play golf and the children can join them playing FootGolf if they like. The fee for FootGolf is $10 for 18 holes. The course is undergoing changes in looks as well thanks to newer service equipment, the trimming of trees, the clearing and mowing of waste areas and the enlarging of irrigation ponds. The course is open seven days a week, even through the winter.
While J-Dawg is the top dawg of the course, he is joined by superintendent Tom Riggs, who has been there for 9 years, manager David Thrasher, and Noah Schiltz.
Tom is excited for guests to come and experience the improvements he has made at Jeremy’s Creek, and David noted that play continues to increase month after month as golfers learn the course is open to the public, is improving and is affordable.
Additionally, Clear Creek Golf Car and Utility Vehicles has opened a location in Lamar at Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course. With locations in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; Rogers, Arkansas; and Springfield, Missouri, Clear Creek is an authorized Club Car dealer.
President Brian Cheever of Clear Creek said, “We are excited to open a dealership at Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course. We offer new and used units, service for all makes of golf carts and provide rental units for special events like weddings, trade shows and, of course, golf tournaments.”
In addition to traditional golf carts, Clear Creek offers four-passenger and six-passenger carts and vehicles with dump beds. Cheever added, “With hundreds of vehicles at our four locations, we have options for those on a tight budget, as well as for someone looking for all the bells and whistles.”
As you are traveling Interstate 49 near Lamar, be sure to stop by Mother Tucker’s for pizza, Clear Creek for a golf cart, or Jeremy’s Creek for golf. It’s the opportunity for family entertainment topped off with some great food.
