When Tim and Ann Bailey purchased Notable Outdoor Living earlier this year, the reason they did so after just purchasing a home in Honey Creek and making Grand Lake in Grove, Oklahoma, their full-time home barely three years ago, was rather simple for them.
“My wife and I were looking for something we could do together, including going to shows, etc.,” Tim Bailey conveyed. “We had never been able to work together throughout our 38 years of marriage.”
Now, the Baileys are working hand-in-hand at a company in Grove that is well known for providing a broad range of outdoor living merchandise, including everything from the Berlin Gardens LLC poly outdoor furniture collection, as well as its umbrellas, fire pits, fire tables and structures, such as pergolas, arbors and pavilions.
“People around the area (Northeast Oklahoma) and Grand Lake love the poly furniture manufactured by Berlin Gardens (Amish) in Berlin, Ohio,” Tim Bailey affirmed. “A great part of our business is return customers who are wanting more, which speaks to the quality and comfort of the product.
“We also carry other items to help enhance the outdoor experience, like fire pits, the Big Green Egg and outdoor sign art, as well as lots of other items.”
Interestingly, the Baileys had never previously owned a business. But, they had enjoyed success in their specific fields of expertise.
“I spent 30 years in technical and management roles in the telecom/IT world and the last 5 years as a VP of corporate services for ONEOK, which included supply chain, aviation, construction and building services, disaster recovery and records management,” Tim Baily recounted. “Ann spent most of her career in childcare, teaching and coaching.”
While the Baileys are new to the retailing business, they have a good sense for the essential focus. Tim Bailey said it’s all about “great products and great customer service, including assembly and delivery.”
Not even a half year into this adventure, this husband-and-wife team understands a key priority is promoting their company. “We have been attending several area home shows to get the word out and let more people get to know us and the products as well,” Tim Bailey said.
In working diligently to make this a vibrant venture, Tim Bailey reasoned, “We must continue building relationships with our customers. We don’t view this as a one-and-done type of business.”
It’s an exciting time for these business owners, and they definitely want to see it thrive.
“It is great to have products people love,” Tim Bailey said. “Seeing people happy with their purchases makes us happy and motivates us to want to do more.
“We also like supporting causes in a small town like the Grove and Grand Lake area.”
The Baileys are thrilled to be enjoying the ‘Grand Life’ here, while certainly working hard to help Notable Outdoor Living customers leave their store smiling big every time.
